Import a folder or a batch of videos
Drop a folder, several videos or a ZIP archive into any tool, read the batch summary and get your iPhone files ready.
Video coming soonA short video of this tutorial will be added here. Until then, the steps below are all you need.
Every Studio tool starts with the same import area. It takes a whole folder, a selection of videos or a ZIP archive, and tells you straight away what it understood: how many videos, their total length, which files were skipped.
Before you start
- A Clipfer account, signed in: the Studio opens after you log in.
- Videos in MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM, or a ZIP archive that contains some. Videos shot vertically and iPhone HDR footage are supported as they are.
- From an iPhone, film as usual: MOV or MP4 files need no conversion. Move them to your computer (AirDrop, cable, iCloud) to import a whole folder; on a phone, folder selection is not always available and the tool then asks you to go through Choose videos.
- Readable file names, for example
kitchen-take-03.mov. The name helps you find a video in the batch and in the History; the produced files get a neutral name of their own.
Steps
- Open the tool you need, for example Auto captions. The first step, Upload (Import in Text Overlay), shows the area "Drop a folder, videos or an archive".
- Drag your files onto it ("Release to upload"), or click Choose videos to pick them one by one.
- For a whole folder, click Choose a folder, then Choose the folder in the "Upload a folder?" dialog. The browser asks permission to read the folder; only supported videos are kept, and nothing is copied until processing starts.
- For an archive, click Upload a ZIP: the Studio reads the archive and pulls the videos out. A password-protected entry, or one with an unsupported compression, is skipped without blocking the rest.
- Wait for the analysis to finish: "Checking the formats", "Measuring the lengths", "Estimating the storage". The bar shows "N videos analyzed", then "Analysis done".
- Read the Batch summary: number of videos, total length and uploaded size. If it says "N files skipped, the rest of the batch is not blocked", click See those files to learn the reason for each one ("Unsupported format", "Unreadable video").
- Browse the "Uploaded videos" list: search by file name, sort by length or size, and use Remove from the batch to take a video out without deleting anything from your disk.
- Move on with the main button, for example Continue to the settings, depending on the tool.
Expected result
The batch is ready: every video has its length, format and resolution, and the summary gives the total length of the batch. Nothing has been sent or charged yet: the upload to your private space and the credit charge start when you launch the processing, after a confirmation dialog that shows the estimated cost.
